Tip of the Month:

Tell your character’s life story in under 200 words. Find out what is really important and what experiences shaped him or her.

Do these for each of your main figures.

Write the climactic scene in your play where everything comes to a head with the knowledge you now have.

May 2011 – Aaron will be teaching a 2 day seminar at the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre. For you Bay Area folks, this is a great opportunity to try out some new techniques.

January – December 2010 - Robey Theatre Company presents an entire season of world premieres by Aaron Henne’s playwriting students!

September 2009 – "You Already Know", Aaron's Playwriting guide, is published
by Writ Large Press.

June 2009The L.A. Contemporary Dance Company collaborates with Aaron to produce an original dance theatre performance entitled "The Body Mecanique" where bodies moving in space and rhythmic monologues collide, animating the voice and soul of everyday objects.

February 2009 – Student Lisa Kenner's play "Shelter" featured in Theatre of Note's reading series "Notewood".

April 2008 – Henne's “Sliding into Hades” at the Odyssey Theatre
won LA Weekly Awards for Playwriting and Production of the Year!


UPCOMING CLASS EVENTS:

A series of One Day Intensives focusing on everything from character creation to stage direction will be occurring throughout 2011 and are usually offered on Sundays.

WRITERS IN RESIDENCE

An Ongoing Program of Study.

Each 4-6 week block consists of once or twice weekly 3 hour writing sessions which offer an array of exercises and specific dramaturgical direction, tailored to your project's individual needs. The process works for screenplays and short stories/novels as well.

This program is offered continuously throughout the year.
