This ongoing class takes a writer through a continual growth
process, specific to his/her individual and ever-changing needs.
This class meets once a week.
• THE TEN WEEK PLAYWRIGHT'S PROCESS – You will start and
complete the first draft of a play in under three months!
This class includes a culmination reading by
professional actors.
This class meets once a week.
• MAKING MYTHS -
The story you weave is a myth like any other
throughout history.
We will use the most well known stories and
structures to discover new ways into our own.
A one act play will
be created.
Five 2 Hour Sessions
• BACKWARDS FORWARDS - How can I know what a play should
be without understanding where it is headed?
Together we will find
the endings of our plays first and create from that space. By telling
our tales in reverse chronology, story and character are revealed.
Five 2 hour sessions.
• THE SOUNDTRACK PLAY – The pace, feeling and emotional content
of your creation is determined by your favorite piece of music. You
will write a one act play moving in
rhythmic motion.
• THE SEVEN ACT PLAY IN A DAY – Using a series of pointed, channel
opening exercises, inspired by a Seven Step Meditation Technique,
participants will walk through a character's history, regrets, joys,
sorrows and aspirations. By the end of the session, a complete
portrait will have been created and a play written.
Have a favorite museum? An area of town that gets your juices flowing?
In these workshops, your group gathers together to write plays, poems
and short stories directly tied into the time and place in which they are
writing. These tours can be created especially for your own personal needs
and tailored to your choice of venue.
